The Seafarer Collection
In 1984, founder John Barbour established himself in the burgeoning port of South Shields in the North East of England supplying oilskins and other garments to protect the growing community of sailors, fishermen, rivermen and dockers from the worst of the North Sea weather.
This protective clothing featured as its trademark, the Beacon, a famous North East landmark designed to guide ships navigators to their destination. For over 100 years, the Beacon welcomed generations of mariners into South Shields harbour. Today, the Beacon still stands at the mouth of the Tyne and remains an iconic symbol of the Barbour brand.
The Seafarer collection celebrates Barbour's long and proud maritime heritage and this season takes its inspiration from the Beacon. Soft, summery, light and airy, the collection features clever touches such as the use of double branded rivets in red and green to express port and starboard. Graphi Tees feature seagulls and nautical images in a celebration of all things maritime.
