Extremely Hardwearing and Weatherproof
This is first class at keeping out the wind and rain. Ribbed storm cuffs, storm fly front over the zip, cord collar and studded throat strap above zip all contribute to keeping out the weather. Of course the famous wax fabric also contributes. With regularly waxing, this coat will last me for many, many years.
A downside is that it's not breathable, so care needs to be taken to choose the garments worn under it. The double ended zip is helpful for ventilation; unzip a bit from top and bottom.
It's not as close fit as the Ashby (based on the Bedale) so scores over that for ventilation, also having some cotton in the sleeve lining, where the Ashby is 100% polyester helps with the condensation issue. The Bedale is a little more weatherproof than the Ashby, having storm cuffs.
Overall a very well designed and manufactured jacket, made from quality materials.
